Annoyed at Direct Line

Toothbrush
I managed to get my letter out to the insurance finally yesterday. I’ve had this ongoing saga with a bag that British Airways lost for me in January 2006. When I finally got all the paperwork in order for the Direct Line they came back to me wanting the original receipts of everything that I had in the luggage, otherwise they would not proceed with my claim.

Seriously .. do you still have the receipt of the toothbrush you bought two years ago? Or your socks? I had good experiences with Direct Line Insurance before but this was just annoying. They got back to me with the fact that I could send them photos or credit card statements if I didn’t have the receipts. Again .. don’t have a photo of my toothbrush or of myself in my underwear. I managed to find SOME photos to send and some credit card statements, but we’ll see how that goes.

Thing is, I’ve already replaced all the items, bought myself a new luggage (although it’s no Delsey), new underwear and a new toothbrush .. but the whole point of travel insurance was to be covered in the case of this eventuality and I’m just really annoyed at all the hoops I’m having to jump through!
